Berneck S.A. Painéis e Serrados in Brazil has ordered its fifth continuous production line in 35 years from Siempelkamp to meet the increasing demand on the markets in Latin America.

Founded in 1952 as a sawmill in the federal state of Paraná, Berneck S.A. is today one of the leading manufacturers of wood-based materials in Latin America and employs around 1,600 people at in future four locations. The company primarily processes pine (Pinus ellioti) from its own 63,000-hectare plantation, whereby the ideal combination of sawmills and particleboard- or MDF plants means that 100% of the wood is used.

Siempelkamp’s scope of delivery includes the forming and press line, the glue kitchen with Ecoresinator and the finishing line with cooling turners and maturing storage.

Berneck is going to be installing a combined heat and power plant in the new plant to generate electricity and to heat the new dryer with exhaust steam from the turbine. Büttner convinced Berneck with its tried-and-tested, particularly low-energy and low-emission drying concept and has received its first order from Berneck for an indirectly heated fibre dryer that is able to deliver a capacity of 48 t/h.
